Yes I know. It has been a tough week for nyjer.
But I can’t really blame him for anything he’s done except for hitting the cardinals catcher.

Grizzy, Nyjer's situation is worthy of a fanpost from you.
You’re his biggest fan. Give your whole history with the guy, remind the haters why he’s worthy of continued faith, and stand by your guy!

im very impressed...
but i think he could be all ovr for Nyjer and the Nats. Just think Rizzo will go with Bernie in CF and Crawford in RF.
Ian Desmond is my hero!
The Crawford talk has me perplexed, just don't imagine him choosing Nats...

4-3!!!!
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
Why does Carpenter INSIST
on, whenever he announces a lineup, starting with “The (blankety blanks), 13th in the league, are up to bat…”? What does “13th” in the league mean to him? 13th in team batting average.
Does he believe that the quality of an offense is determined best by its batting average? Actually, I think he does.

But what did you do when they added Michael?
I can’t stand him.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
Getting rid of Herzog...
…was another one of those moves that fueled the Snyder hate. I could have tolerated Michael if they didn’t rub my nose with him all of the time with that daily show on Comcast and all of the pregame and postgame stuff to subject to me nauseating and sickening doses of his homerism.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.

So Danny Boy gets my $$$…it is the definition of insanity. Not doing something wildly stupid, but doing the same stupid thing over and over again.
Go Skins.
My brother's in the same boat.
He works in NYC and comes down 8 games a year for club season tickets.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
He probably doesn't.
The average fan like me doesn’t really know better, however. And even if it’s not the best, I wanna know how often the guy gets a hit – walks are boring.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
Of note
I do look at on-base percentage too. I kind of look at on-base percentage + Slugging but I tend to overvalue obp and undervalue the other.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
Do you know how slugging works?
I like ISO (slugging minus batting average).
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
Yeah, slugging’s simple, I figured it out playing Triple Play Baseball ‘96. But I don’t really really like watching power baseball as much as I like watching teams that can line drive all over the place and run the bases well.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
Line drives tend to lead to doubles and triples
which obviously is a big factor in slugging average.
Rob

Rallies are fun.
It’s nice when everybody gets to contribute and that’s why OBP is fun.
By the way, if you love OBP, you’ll love Derek Norris.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
I’ve actually seen him more than once this year. I think I saw him get out once.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
The power is coming back. They've also been DHing him a bit more since they sent Rooney down.
Have him take it easy behind the plate the next week so he doesn’t get hurt. AFL could be a real coming out party for him.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
Also
I was taught young that with the bases loaded or runners in scoring position it’s sometimes more advantageous to hit a double or triple than a home run – you keep pressure on the pitcher.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
Interesting theory.
Personally, I’ll take the dingers, but there’s something to be said for that.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
It's actually a pretty reasonable statement.
I have heard more than once a grand slam referred to as a “rally killer”. And there’s some stats to back this notion up, i.e. that under certain circumstances which I forget (with nobody out?) a team that hits a bases loaded double is likely to score more runs that inning than a team that hits the slam.
Rob
"Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection." -- Red Smith
What stats do you know about?
The only time it gets to be a problem is when somebody gets overrated due to their batting average. Nyjer probably likes batting average because he’s closer to mean with that stat as opposed to his on base percentage or utter and complete lack of power.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
I know a few
And, Nyjer could learn to watch a few more pitches. Also, I will be going to my first Nats game at the new park in the next few weeks. I’m freaking ecstatic.

Hah! I live in Dale City now, but I’ve been in college, and unemployed since. I went to several at RFK, but I just wasn’t able to make it before. My organization now is getting seats for the entire corps, so we’re going as a unit. I don’t care who it’s against, I’m bringing my jersey and hat.

Not saying I have a dog in the fight
But saying that I’ve liked him so far. I’ll admit that there are times when he’s kind of vanilla, and his voice isn’t really great for the booth, to be honest. Simply saying that I’ve liked him so far. Again, give it a couple of weeks and I might change my mind.

He loses credibility with me
whenever he talks about his philosophy as a manager. As a Reds fan at the time, a victim of his suckitude, I’ve got nothing but bad memories of Knight as a manager.
To his credit though, Knight does readily admit he wasn’t particularly good.

Blueline’s been quiet since the deadline. I was hoping to do a little evaluation vs. winning as many as possible (for September) piece, but it’s not going to happen. I’m out of town for two weeks starting tomorrow. I’ll try and write something when I get back, but the evaluation vs. winning with some of the vets on the field thing wouldn’t be real timely at that point.

Who would you have wanted to boot from the rotation?
Part of our team is about process. You want to give people opportunities who can be a part of the long term plan. Yes, he might have performed better than Stammen at times this year, but Stammen has better stuff.
Another thing to be careful about with Batista is that it’s not all about ERA. As a reliever, it’s about inherited runners (he just let one score). Also, it’s about trying to see whether how he prevents runs is sustainable. He’s a guy that has a real low K/BB ratio and that suggests he’s walking a very narrow tightrope to have success.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
I dunno. Since this is just a throwaway year, development trumps victories for this year, and I’d have probably preferred a roster of Stras, J. Zim, Stammen, and anyone except Olson or that other guy I hate who’s name I can’t remember. Livan I guess too.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
I don't know his perception here too well
But I love Marquis, and I don’t know his contract status, but if the team wants to contend, I like the signing for the short term future.
Atilano, I think.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
He's not that good first of all.
1) If people saw him two or three times through the lineup and scouted him more heavily his ERA might start trending toward 5.00 instead of the low 4s.
2) His major asset is flexibility. He can pitch multiple innings multiple days a week.
3) He has zero upside. He’s not going to get but so much better and he’ll probably get worse.
He’s found a good role for this team on this particular year.

Big difference in embouchure
But surprisingly, similar air support’s needed. Our college makes you minor in an instrument outside of your major instruments family. I chose flute, because it was my weakest woodwind (I played Bassoon in high school, better than I played Tuba back then, and also Oboe and Saxophone in middle). I also played Trumpet in pep and and trombone in jazz.

OT's good stuff.

Yeah....I can't stand it. I've still have flashbacks fro last year's 9th inning meltdowns.
I need him to meltdown NOW.

I hate that after what he did to the Nats last year.

Yeah, but I'd prefer it be 0-6.
Obviously, I still steamed about last year.

I don't hate the guy.
He shouldn’t have been the closer. He wasn’t ready for it at that point and he was put in bad situaitons coming off of the World Baseball Classic. I understand why he was traded, but in the long run the Pirates are going to probably win that trade.

That's probably not totally fair.
Most of the year he’s been a setup guy to Dotel. If you blow a hold, it’s a blown save, but he’ll never get the save situations to make his save numbers look good.

I'm absolutely stoked,
Since I’ve given up on sleeping, I’m prepared to stay up all night watching movies and I’ll be ready for the game at noon. Pizza will be delivered and it will be great (ESPNU).
Now that the AG for NC is involved, I fear it could get nuts for UNC. Must be a Dukie.
Nope ...someone with political aspirations.
She’s been “involved” for months.
I think Davis has suspended or sat everyone potentially involved so the games shouldn’t be set aside if those guys are found guilty.
Good luck for FSU.
I fear Carolina has no chance against LSU…but as always, I live in hope.
Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes. Oscar Wilde
LSU hasn't impressed so much since FSU took their offensive coordinator...and UNC kept a couple linebackers.
Never know. I’ll be watching.
