When people first see this they say no way, no way are the Marlins going to shop their face of the franchise to a division rival. If you look a little deeper though it does make some sense.
First off the Marlins will have a good enough offense without him with Stanton, Coghlan, Morrison, Sanchez, and the new additions of Omar Infante and John Buck. That will provide a potent offense and trading Hanley can help patch up some of their holes. One of the major holes the Marlins have is their bullpen which happens to be a strength of the Nats. Also Rizzo seems to be very aggressive in trades and signings and the Nats now appear to be big spenders in the market.
I'm thinking that a package of Desmond, Balester, Morgan, Gorzelanny, and Hood would be close to getting a deal done.
Or we could just be higher up than THE 6TH TO LAST IN INTERNATIONAL SPENDING like last year and discover our own Hanley for ourselves and dirt-cheap too!
