Washington Nationals Place Chad Gaudin On DL With Shoulder Inflammation, Henry Rodriguez Returns From Rehab Stint.
Late this afternoon, the Washington Nationals announced that 28-year-old right-handed reliever Chad Gaudin had been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to April 26th with what was described as right shoulder inflammation. The veteran of six major league teams and nine major league seasons signed with the Nats this winter, and won a job in the bullpen this Spring, but Gaudin struggled at the start of the season, giving up 12 hits, eight walks and 10 runs, six earned in 10 games and 8.1 IP before the announcement.
24-year-old RHP Henry Rodriguez, acquired from the Oakland A's along with OF Corey Brown in the deal that sent Josh Willingham to the AL West, will return and be reinstated from a rehab stint which saw the hard-throwing right-hander strike out 16 while allowing eight hits, two runs, one earned, and six walks in nine games (one start) and 12.1 IP between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse in which he held opponents to a .190 BAA. Rodriguez is reportedly in D.C. and at Nationals Park already.

They finally diagnosed his sprained command?

I wouldn't mind seeing Gaudin
Gonedin. Not a great attempt at a pun, but I hate him (not on a personal level, so I probably shouldn’t use that word) and would rather he not be a National.
With Clippard, Storen and Burnett so strong, it would be nice to see the team maybe shorten up the pen a bit and add an extra bat to the bench. That’s probably wrong of me to think, and I likely won’t care so much when Zimmerman returns (whenever that may be) from the oblique.

Adding a *good* bat off the bench?......Heck yeah........
But, if there was one available, it should already be here ….And giving Riggles a new switchy?…. No, and I’d rather not grind the good ’pen down……Out with Gaudin and bring up the next guy!!!

Obviously Gaudin does better WITH shoulder inflammation - LOL.
Hope Henry does well and can get his control issues worked out. He can be a mighty fine addition if he works that stuff out.
OT: Dr. Forbes on the Weather Channel gave the Atlanta area an “8” on the TORCON scale. That’s out of 10 – so it means there is an 80% probability of a tornado within 50 miles here in the Atlanta metro area.
Stat guys – This means I’m screwed, right? LOL You think Fangraphs can make a chart for me?

Shouldn't there be something about ice-cream in there?
If I was going to go out in a tornado, I’d want to be enjoying some Moose Tracks when I go.
Ice Cream is a great idea - but it would probably blow away.
Actually – when the tornado sirens go off – I never have an appetite and that is a very rare occurence for me.

Livo needs to do his launry, be squeaky clean
Nothing to look at here, move along.
Cannot confirm or deny.
Wow! Do you think Livo's ERA figures into the investigation? The article mentioned it.
Maybe they’re wondering how a guy that old can have such an ERA?!

Could be. It's probably not good to have property in your name that belongs to a drug kingpin. Just a guess.

Dadgummit...
I thought AccuRoscoe could have a night off. Potential weather issues. Arlington County Virginia is even under a tornado watch.
Radar showing inbound rain.
Nope. Things are hopping. These just aren't little tornadoes, either.
The ones in Alabama are long track huge tornadoes that you cannot get away from.

I can see a few scattered showers
about 8-10 miles southeast of my office in northern Alexandria. It doesn’t look too threatening though; no lightning and light winds.

I see some decent size storms about 60 to 90 minutes out. Passing Dumfries now.
I hope they fall apart. So sick of rain.
There's some nasty stuff headed that way. Wow, what a day this has been.
