"May 24, 2011 will go down as a sad day in Washington Nationals history as former infielder Alex Cintrón has decided to hang up his cleats.  San Diego Padres Triple-A broadcaster Tim Hagerty (Tucson Sidewinders) reported the news via his Twitter account."

"Cintrón played 21 games with the Nationals during the 2009 campaign and will go down as one of the worst statistical players to ever wear the uniform. In 26 at-bats, he only mustered two hits (both singles) and struck out seven times."

"To his credit, his horrible season certainly helped the organization’s effort to earn the league’s worst record that year and eventually draft pitcher Stephen Strasburg with the #1 pick."
