Projecting the Nats After 1/3 of the Season

Well, kids, we've hit that magic number of 54 games, which is exactly 1/3 of the 162-game season.  By arithmetic similar to that of dc_roach at the 1/4 mark -- multiply all non-percentage numbers by 3 -- we can get some fairly interesting numbers.  Obviously, some of these numbers will be more plausible than others.  I hope that I successfully amuse you all.

My source is the official MLB Nationals website at http://washington.nationals.mlb.com

First, and most important, is the Nats record.  We currently stand at 23-31, which projects to a a final record of...69-93.  Exactly the same as last year.  Well, at least we're not getting worse!

Other interesting projections:

  • Danny Espinosa will play in every game this season.  He'll start in 153 of them.
  • Ryan Zimmerman will play in 24 games this season.
  • Matt Stairs will get 9 hits, 9 runs, 3 doubles, 0 RBIs, 12 walks, and 33 strikeouts this season.
  • Brian Bixler will be intentionally walked 6 times this season.
