Washington Nationals: Friday Roster Notes. Ryan Mattheus' Contract Purchased. Ryan Zimmerman To Triple-A Syracuse.
According to several reports this afternoon, (the first I saw by the Washington Times' Amanda Comak) the Washington Nationals have purchased the contract of RHP Ryan Mattheus from Triple-A Syracuse. No corresponding move has been announced.
Mattheus, a 6'3'', 27-year-old Colorado Rockies' '03 19th Round pick, was acquired by Nationals along w/ RHP Robinson Fabian in a July '09 trade for LHP Joe Beimel, after Mattheus had undergone Tommy John surgery. In 22 games and 24.2 IP between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse this season, the Galt, California-born pitcher has a (2-1) record, 1.46 ERA, eight walks (2.92 BB/9) and 28 K's (10.22 K/9).
The Harrisburg Senators (@HBGSenators) announced on Twitter this afternoon that Sens' RHP Ryan Tatusko, who was acquired in a deadline deal last year that sent IF Cristian Guzman, had been promoted to Triple-A while RHP Pat Lehman was moved from Class-A Potomac to Double-A. Tatusko, 26, has moved back and forth between the rotation and the bullpen this year, compiling a (2-4) record in 12 games, 9 starts and 47.0 IP in which he's walked 26 (4.98 BB/9) and K'd 40 (7.66 K/9). Lehman, 24, a 13th Round pick in 2009, is (2-0) in 13 games, 12 appearances, walking no one and striking out 11 (6.32 K/9) in 15.2 IP.
The Nationals also announced that Ryan Zimmerman, who's been rehabbing in the system but has the night off on Friday, will join the Triple-A Chiefs this weekend as he continues to work his way back from a torn abdominal muscle.

In all honesty, I think it's good that they're showing the guys in the bullpen that if you don't produce, you're gone.
Now, if only they would do the same thing with the hitters…

Agreed
This will also give him the time to play some minor league ball again and try and cut the walks down. Next on the list, H-Rod, well, err, again.
Name a number between three and five.

H-Rod's here to stay...
Pretty sure there are no options left and in spite of the wildness I doubt he’d make it through waivers.

You misunderstood me,
I mean they will find another “ailment” for H-Rod if he continues to struggle with control and place him on the DL. Honestly this team is probably the most troublesome to try and ease a young pitcher into the pen. I know H-Rod pitched in the bigs back in Oakland, but it is incredibly obvious that they rushed him up for his velocity. Guys like H-Rod, Kimball, and someone like Burnett who is struggling greatly all need very low pressure situations to go out there and take the ball. H-Rod has gotten a few, Kimball less and Burnett really hasn’t gotten any. An anemic offense does not a young or faltering bullpen help fix.

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~Rogers Hornsby
Definitely Saturday as per a Nats' press release, nothing about Sunday, but I don't see why he wouldn't...
