According to a report from ESPN.com's Chris Singleton (@c_singleton) which is as yet unconfirmed by either team, but is now being repeated and retweeted everywhere, the Milwaukee Brewers have acquired IF/OF Jerry Hairston from the Washington Nationals this morning. Hairston, a 35-year-old 14-year MLB veteran signed with Washington this winter and put up a .268/.342/.385 slash in 75 games and 238 plate appearances. If the reports are correct, the Nats will get outfielder Erik Komatsu from Milwaukee. Komatsu, a 23-year-old '08 8th Round pick was playing at Double-A Huntsville in the Brewers' system this season where he posted a .294/.393/.416 slash with 19 doubles and six home runs in 93 games and 279 plate appearances.
• One other note, following up on a report last night on Twitter by Washington Post writer Adam Kilgore (@AdamKilgoreWP) which said that, "A source who's talked with the Nats got the sense the Storen-Span deal isn't happening, at least for now," CBSSports' reporter Scott Miller (@ScottMCBSSports) reported this morning that the, "#Nationals still looking for OF help. Pushing Clippard on #Twins for Span instead of Storen. Minn won't do setup man for Span."
Can the Nationals acquire the center fielder they're looking for before tomorrow's deadline?
