Game 154: John Lannan is a 10-game winner
- Coulda been worse: John Lannan (-10.3%) incurs the wrath of the BABIP gods to the tune of 8 singles in 2 innings, but he still manages to keep the damage to 3 ER over 5 IP, thanks to 3 Ks and only 1 BB.
- ¡VAMOS! Wilson Ramos (+29.2%) is 3-3 with a walk and a two-run shot for the early lead (+20.3%)
- Here to save the day: Craig Stammen (+19.3%) throws two scoreless innings in relief.
- Record-breaker: Danny Espinosa (+26.0%) gets his 21st bomb (a two-run, go-ahead shot for +30.4% WPA) and his 19th HBP.
- Ugly runs still count: Rick Ankiel (+1.0%) screws up a sac bunt, but an error on the play scores a run and puts runners 2nd/3rd (+10.5%).

+30.4% WPA for Danny.....that's what a 30 point swing feels like...
Craig Stammen deserves more breaks…

Yes he did. Even the hit off of him looked like it was a good pitch.

Good news...thanks...I hope they're giving him a fair shot...

so cute
“Ok Danny, get some rest and let’s go for the sweep tomorrow” Then Debbi slugs Danny in the shoulder. At least she didn’t stomp her foot!

She actually asked him how his foot was!
He said that it hurt. I was surprised—a relevant question.

She didn't ask how it felt to have a bad foot?

Thoughts on tonight's game
1) (DON’T!) LET SEVERINO PITCH!
2) Did you see that three ptich, second-inning strikeout of Utley by Lannan? Thing….of…beauty.
3) Bad luck in the second inning on a few of those hits, for sure. That’s what ya get sometimes with a ground-ball pitcher. Doesn’t change the fact that Lannan pitched pretty well last night.
4) Can Danny just play all his games against Philadelphia?
5) bixler. Lord.
6) Ibanez [spit] [spit] [spit]
All in all, a very enjoyable game. Glad to see the guys are thinking .500 (whether or not they make it!)

On points 4 & 6...
Turtles are notably long-lived, but Yertle is on the declining side of his career. Danny will (we hope) bedevil our NL East opponents for many years to come.

read through the Phillies' game thread and they are humorously spooked by Lannan (one fan at home, wearing a catcher's mask and having his 4 year-old yell, "death to John Lannan")
they don’t like Danny……………………….We are nemeses!!!!

I put the point in specifically for you, you know...
Couldn’t resist the tease.
Still, it wasn’t pretty. Hope he does better next time, but for sure I hope the next time also happens when there’s at least a four-run lead.

Yeah, at least he got a K
and at least I wasnt watching. I also think that he should be treated like any other rookie, and right now he hasnt earned to right to pitch in close games.
MOAR SEVERINO!
Last night John Lannan gave a object lesson in why P2C is a dangerous thing.
Balls that get hit hard WILL find holes. And every one of those second-inning balls were hit hard — on the ground or short line drives, but hard nevertheless.

Nats in the spotlight!
First off, a blurb from Rob Neyer on our man Wilson. Secondly, the Nats made today’s New York Times’ crossword!.

I think they were also in the Sunday puzzle one of the past couple of weeks
