Game 156: Remember when we swept the Fillies? Good times.
Tonight's game story: Strasburg struggles, Nats are terrible.
- Not messianic: Stephen Strasburg (-14.5%) gives up 2 ER (3 R) over 4 IP with only 3 Ks but no BBs.
- Trying: Wilson Ramos (+10.5%) is 2-4 with a pair of RBIs. Jayson Werth (3.1%) hits a solo shot in the aeyeth (+7.5%).
- Unhelpful: Ryan Zimmerman (-16.8%) is 1-5 with 4 LOB and a rally-killing GDP in the 3rd (-12.9%).
- Also unhelpful: Collin Balester (-13.0%) continues to make the case for DFA by giving up 2 BB, 0 K, and 3 ER while only recording 1 out.

Zim. Did. Not. Pick. It.
His defense was worth -2 runs tonight, which was the most disappointing part of the night for me, especially when he tacked an earned run on Henry who was throwing all kinds of strikes.
On a plus side, Maya did look strangely effective out there. I don’t know what he’s taking these days. I’m very glad Davey didn’t bring in Slaten there. It upset me that he was even warming :)
Oh, and though the Nats got a decent number of hits, it seemed like every ball that was hit hard was a line drive hit straight to a fielder. Hit to where they ain’t, or the BABIP gods will be angry.
Game balls and hand shakes go to Ramos, Henry and Maya...and Stras, of course.
And a hat tip to Werth for his 20th dinger of the season.
But the rest of the team did NOT come to play professional ball.
I hope they realize how bad they were…especially Zim… and plan to play like pros on Saturday.

true, but not because of his walks..
His problem is that he allows too many home runs. “Normalize” his HR rate down to Clippard’s and his ERA drops down to the 3.50 – 3.75 range. Clippard’s strength is that he rarely allows any runs besides the home run. Balester has not been able to do that, plus he allows even more home runs.
No, he's just bad.

Todd Coffey
I maintain the Mr. Coffey has the worst body in the history of baseball. He’s something behold… he takes your breath away… caused one to shake their head and say “oh my”.
I call a friend each time he makes a dash to the mound to discuss this. He finds it hard to disagree, but says there just has to be somebody that had a worst one.
Anybody care to weigh in on this topic?
ps I’m heading to Natstown for the last time this season. Anybody else going?
Well
Dmitri Young just said he’s trying to make a comeback. Interested to see how he looks now
Whats the frequency, Kenneth?

damning by faint praise
As for Coffey, I remain proud of my contribution to FB: providing the eye-melting mental image of Coffey in a Speedo, running on the beach a la “Baywatch”…
Brain: "Pinky, are you pondering what i'm pondering?"
Pinky: "Yes, ... wait, ... no, ... never mind"
etched in our collective memories for ETERNITY!!!!!!!!.....
congratulations, sir………….you have affected the minds of …….many!….
