Major League Baseball announced this afternoon that the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals will play Game 4 on the NLDS at 4:07 pm EDT on Thursday and Game 5 if necessary, at 8:37 pm EDT on Friday night in D.C.
There's apparently a little bit of a brouhaha over the start time of the third game of the NLDS on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. The scuttlebut about the internet is that the game in which the Washington Nationals and Edwin Jackson will take on the St. Louis Cardinals and Chris Carpenter at 1:07 pm EDT in Game Three of the 2012 NLDS, is scheduled way too early in the day for the working man to see. Also it's on the MLB Network which not everyone can get apparently. The series, which is tied at 1-1 after the first two games in Busch Stadium, moves back to the Nationals' home now. Games 4-5 (w/ 5 as always, if necessary) will be played at 4:07 pm EDT on Thursday and (again if necessary) 8:37 pm EDT on Friday night in Nationals Park. Thursday's matchup features left-hander Ross Detwiler on the mound for the Nats against the Cards' Kyle Lohse. Friday's matchup is TBD.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Nationals and the Cardinals are bringing posteason baseball back to Washington, D.C. for the first time since October of 1933. MLB made the official announcement on Games 4 and 5 this afternoon:
MLB announces that #nats - #stlcards Game 4 and if necessary Game 5 will be at 4 pm (Game 4) & 8:37 pm (Game 5).
