Washington Nationals' "Opening Day" Lineup vs New York Mets: Sunday GameThread.

As reports last week explained, Nats' skipper Davey Johnson wanted to start using something approaching Washington's Opening Day lineup this afternoon when the Nationals take on the New York Mets in Grapefruit League action. Injuries continue to limit the availability of some players that might be starting on a regular basis in the regular season, however, so instead Stephen Strasburg will have a lineup behind him this afternoon that's a close approximation, but not exactly the lineup we might see on April 5th in Chicago. Rick Ankiel's still not available, having been scratched from center field in favor of Roger Bernadina. Michael Morse's status hasn't been updated, so today Steve Lombardozzi is starting in left field, and with Adam LaRoche's foot still apparently an issue, Mark DeRosa will be fielding grounders and throws from around the infield at first. So, actually, with all the injuries the Nationals are still dealing with, maybe this will be the Opening Day lineup? Ankiel's been playing recently and is expected to be back on the field tomorrow, so he's close. Michael Morse will get back at it (it = throwing) this week (as the Washington Times' Amanda Comak wrote this morning.) Here's the lineup that will meet the Mets this afternoon:

  1. Ian Desmond - SS
  2. Danny Espinosa - 2B
  3. Ryan Zimmerman - 3B (Word.)
  4. Jayson Werth - RF
  5. Mark DeRosa - 1B
  6. Jesus Flores - C
  7. Roger Bernadina - CF
  8. Steve Lombardozzi - LF
  9. Stephen Strasburg - RHP
• Today's game against New York is only available on the radio with Charlie and Dave on 106.7 the FAN in DC and 1500 WFED on the AM dial, and the Mets' broadcast team on 660 WFAN in NY. It's also on Sirius/XM channel 184. Who's Listening To The Nationals?
