According to reports by both the Washington Times' Amanda Comak and MLB.com's Bill Ladson the Washington Nationals have promoted 25-year-old hard-hitting 1B/OF Tyler Moore to the majors this morning while placing veteran infielder Mark DeRosa on the DL. No word yet as to what is wrong with DeRosa. Moore, the Nationals' 2010 Minor League player of the year has hit 31 HR's in each of the last two minor league seasons. The '08 16th Round pick had a .269/.321/.552 line with 35 doubles and 31 homers at Class-A Potomac in 2010 and a .270/.314/.532 line with 35 doubles and 31 HR's last year at Double-A Harrisburg.

At Triple-A Syracuse this season, the 6'2'', 215lb right-handed hitting and throwing slugger has a .286/.364/.597 line with three doubles and seven HR's in 22 games and 77 at bats. DeRosa, who signed as a free agent this winter after dealing with injuries the last few seasons, has just three hits in 37 at bats this year. D.C. GM Mike Rizzo told reporters this week, after calling Bryce Harper up to the majors, that he'd considered bringing Moore up, but opted for Harper who had more experience in left field. Now Moore too will come up and make his own major league debut after five seasons in the Nats' system over which he has a combined .266/.319/.485 line.

Here are the reports via the Times' Ms. Comak and MLB.com's Mr. Ladson:

MLB.com's Bill Ladson has since Tweeted that the plan is to have Moore, "... come off the bench and spell Bryce Harper and Adam LaRoche in LF and 1B, respectively.
