And now, a time for healing

Ordinarily, I don't take well to days off during the baseball season. Today's though is one I'm happy for. It's a good time to allow the players to lick their psychological wounds from the beating they took this weekend, and it's a good time for us in the FBB community to recover from the fracturing brought on by some heated words spoken in the time of heightened emotions.

I would like to apologize if I said anything that offended or angered anyone here this weekend, especially with regards to the fans of the Yankees -- or any other team. What was meant as a form of catharsis may have helped spark some unneeded controversy, and at a time when we were all looking for some means to soften the blow of what went on in the field, we were instead distracted by infighting among ourselves. Again, apologies for that.

I do want to clarify my thoughts on fans of other teams. I do not believe that every fan of a given team fits into ANY category (good, bad, loud, knowledgeable, obnoxious, respectful, etc.). There are all kinds of fans for all teams. I do, however, believe that as a whole, some groups of fans are worse than others. In many cases, the behavior of a group of fans can be worsened by the very fact of them being in such a large group. You can talk to any number of them individually and have no problems; but once joined in the pack, they can become... unpleasant. I will note that this weekend I had more than one encounter with individuals who demonstrated themselves to be, shall I say, less than polite. These chance interactions in part led me to write some particularly unfriendly stuff here. Once again, apologies.

This community is blessed in that we don't have to deal very often with the PMcPs of the world -- the people who actively try to take all the fun away from reading this site. We are all friends here (I hope), and I would like to keep it that way. I hope that this past weekend will be, well not necessarily forgotten, but at least forgiven. And I hope that come tomorrow, we can all focus our thoughts on supporting the Nats (and each other) as the season chugs along to the dog days.
