Goodnight Sweet Prince

It has happened. It is done. Rick Alexander Ankiel is no longer a Washington National. He gave everything that he had. Every time Davey penciled him in. He was ready. Raking. La-zar-ing. Center field. Don't run.

I posted earlier in the season. Why they needed him. http://www.federalbaseball.com/2011/12/27/2663607/the-case-for-rick-alexander-ankiel

In retrospect. He gave his all. Great guy to have on the team. Supporting the youth movement. Mentor. That was Rick. Been to the top of the mountain. Tasted the sweet juice. Related to Bryce. Master throws from CF. The Nat that kept on Nat-ting.

I appreciate everything that he's done. He persevered where the vast majority would throw in the towel. Say 'that's enough for me'. No. He changed his position, true natural, fought back, and was focused on his dream. To me he is a representation of everything I want the Nats to be - tough, die hard, never give up, win at all costs, and the La-Zar.

I'll still rock my Ankiel at Nats Park - there is no other option.

Thank you for all the memories Rick!!!
