Over the past few years the Washington Nationals have sent some tremendous talent out to Arizona to participate in the Arizona Fall League, the so-called finishing school for the games top prospects, and both Washington Post writer Adam Kilgore and MASNSports.com's Byron Kerr have reported this afternoon on some of the names that will play for the Salt River Rafters who have one of the best logos ever and play at a park called Salt River Fields at Talking Stick near Scottsdale, Arizona:

Anthony Rendon is, of course, the Nats' 1st Round pick from 2011, a 22-year-old infielder out of Rice who suffered an ankle injury this season that's limited his time on the field. In 36 games and 136 PAs, however, Rendon, who was considered the top hitter in the draft before a shoulder injury in his Junior year at Rice, has managed to put up a .246/.368/.491 line with eight doubles, four triples and four home runs combined at four level of the Nats' system this season.

Ryan Perry is the 25-year-old former Detroit Tigers' prospect acquired for Collin Balester last winter who moved back into the starting rotation after working as a reliever. In 23 games, 12 starts and 79.0 IP this year, the '08 1st Round pick has a 3.08 ERA with 26 walks and 54 Ks between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse. Christian Garcia is a 27-year-old former NY Yankees' prospect who's overcome two Tommy John surgeries to post a 0.91 ERA between Double and Triple-A this season with 17 walks and 64 Ks in 49.1 IP as a reliever.

Paul Demny, 23 and an '08 6th Round pick, is (6-8) with a 5.44 ERA, 59 BB and 95 Ks in 120.2 IP for Double-A Harrisburg this season. Jason Martinson, 23, is a 2010 5th Round pick out of Texas State University who's put up a combined .254/.349/.445 line with 13 doubles, seven triples, 22 HRs and 106 RBIs in 130 games and 568 PAs at High-A Potomac this year and Brian Goodwin is one of the Nats' three 1st Round picks from 2011 (along with Rendon and RHP Alex Meyer who still might got to the AFL). In 95 games and 430 PAs between Class-A Hagerstown and High-A Potomac this year, Goodwin, a 21-year-old outfielder taken 34th overall in 2011 has a combined .282/.387/.478 line with 25 doubles and 14 HRs in his first professional season.

The AFL's official Twitter (@MLBAZFallLeague) has more information on the prospects who'll be in Arizona this year and as MASN's Mr. Kerr notes, there are two more names from the Nats' system to be added at some point:
