The Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves wrap up their season series tonight on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball with Gio Gonzalez on the mound against ATL left-hander Mike Minor at 8:05 pm EDT. Gonzalez goes for win no.20 of 2012, looking to become the first 20-game winner from the nation's capital since 1953 as the Braves attempt to sweep the NL East' first place team in the last regular season game of the year between the NL East rivals. The Nats' lefty has won six of his last eight starts and three-straight overall, but he's not the hottest player on the Nationals' roster right now. That would be Bryce Harper.
The Nats' 19-year-old outfielder was featured as ESPN.com's Mark Simon's (@MSimonESPN) #heatmapoftheday this afternoon on the Twitter:
So far in September, Harper has a .333/.424/.667 line with three doubles, a triple and four home runs in 14 games and 60 plate appearances. On the year, the Nats' 2010 no.1 overall pick now has a .263/.335/.458 line with 21 doubles, seven triples and 19 HRs in 122 games and 531 plate appearances. Against the Braves this year, Harper has a .258/.352/.468 line with a double and four home runs in 17 G and 72 PAs, with the four home runs tied with the four he's hit of the Marlins for the most against any of the Nats' NL East opponents. Harper's in the lineup tonight, playing center with Tyler Moore in left and Jayson Werth in center:
