So, now that the Nationals have signed Adam LaRoche, this automatically means that the there is no room for Morse, right? Maybe we should all think this through with the outfield situation. Werth and Span have both recently had significant injuries to the wrist and head, respectively. Why not just keep Morse until mid-to-late spring training to see if any injuries happen that suddenly gives a spot to the Beast? If we get to near opening day and the team is in good health, then we trade him. It may not be an ideal situation to get the absolute best prospects/LOOGYs/SP depth for Morse, but what are the chances that the entire outfield is healthy by opening day? Concussions tend to come back fairly easily (i.e. Justin Morneau), and Werth has broken his wrist twice now, leaving it to be more vulnerable. As I cringe with this thought, what if Harper gets stuck in an RG3 situation due to his extremely aggressive play? It would be awesome to have a player like Morse as a kind of insurance plan during spring training. God knows that Rizzo can find his starting pitching depth and lefty relievers some other way if we need Morse in the lineup. Thoughts?
