Dreaming what if ....

It is too long a wait for Opening Day. Sometimes I just daydream/fantasize about Nationals individual and team performance. Just for fun I decided to list some, using a vague a criteria of plausibility given the talent and skill perceived.

  1. Harper wins the triple crown this year. Of the three metrics the HR title might be the hardest for him in the short term. That is why I do not yet dream of 50 HRs and 50 stolen bases. In five years, maybe.
  2. Espy does have a breakout year, like Desmond in 2012, in which he has an OBP of .380, hits 30 HRs, and cuts down the strikeouts by 30%. Plus, he wins the Gold Glove.
  3. On the subject of Gold Glove, the Nats are first or second in the voting for five positions such as 1B, 2B,SS, 3B, and LF.
  4. Four of five starting pitchers win 15 games each.
  5. Somebody pitches a no hitter. Why not Stras., with a no walk, 16 strikeout performance?
  6. The Nationals beat the Braves at least 13 out of 19 games, and also against the Marlins (it's about time isn't it!).
  7. In one game against the Braves, Harper hits a 3-run tape measure blast walk-off against Craig Kimbrel in Nationals Park.
  8. The Nationals have 4 players who hit 30+ HRs, and 7 with 20+ HRs, as they lead the majors in team HRs.
  9. The Nationals win 110 games, and meet little resistance on route to a World Series win.
  10. Due to many of the preceding the national broadcasters decide to put on more Nats games for national TV in 2014 than the Yankees, Dodgers, or Red Sox.
  11. Anthony Rendon is so productive at AA/AAA that the Nationals call him up by July 1 and he is not fazed a bit by Major League pitching (but where would he play? I do not want to imply a major Nationals injury, hence a conundrum).
  12. P.S. My wife just suggested that another one is that the Nationals somehow get control over regional broadcast rights and fees and get much more money than the Orioles.
