"Now 35, the Cuban export is 13-8 with a 3.52 ERA in those matchups, including a no-decision in a May 9 game the Nationals won, 3-2." [my emphasis]
Nats' Assistant GM Bob Boone on Sirius/XM MLB Network's "Power Alley" Talking Jordan Zimmerman and Chien-Ming Wang:
"Both of them are coming [along] great. Jordan Zimmermann, in particular, is way ahead of schedule, we’re actually slowing him down a little bit. But, we're not planning on really having him involved a lot this year. He should be out by the end of July, 1st of August...He's throwing terrific, the scary part of that is coming off [elbow reconstruction]...when he's pitching it's like, 'Boy, he's back!', but you don't want to have a setback...""[Chien-Ming] Wang is doing well from my reports. I have not seen him, I talked to our head trainer the other day in the minor leagues and he said he's feeling really good, so, we're just keeping our fingers crossed."
"We take a pretty conservative approach, especially with the pitching, so, they're going to be when they're ready, but it's looks like they are going to be ready and that's the big thing."
"As impressive as Strasburg’s pitching was last night, his pants were even better."
Unofficial FB.com Strasmas Party Meetup at the beer stand behind section 310. It's just to the 3B side of home on the second deck, near a bunch of other concession stands, drink rails, and picnic tables. I'll be there 5:30/6ish. Reply below if interested!
When Ken Burns throws out the first pitch he won't actually move, but it will be a slow pan shot from him on the mound in his pitching stance to the catcher with the audio of a ball hitting a glove and the fanfare in the background... and maybe Morgan Freeman narrating.
"'Justin Maxwell starting in right field today. So that mystery is solved. Scott Olsen is in the lineup, too.'"
"'And I think, Rob [Dibble], the thing that's so disappointing is I think all of us came out of the winter and out of Spring Training figuring we were beyond nights like this,' [MASN's] Bob Carpenter said. 'You know, this stuff was in the past.'"
"'Are we envious of it? Yeah, of course we are. It's kind of embarrassing to get booed on Opening Day in your home stadium, but that's how it is.'" - Ryan Zimmerman
"I just feel it's so funny cause Stephen, I think, had the situation figured out before he left for Spring Training, because the last thing he asked me before he left was, 'You know, what do you do when you want to make a club but you're not sure if they're gonna let you?'" - SDSU Skipper Tony Gwynn on Sirius/XM's Insider Pitch talking about former Aztecs' ace Stephen Strasburg.
