Nats sign Astacio

from Ladson.com

The News
*--Bowden's every midlevel FA's dream come true. Astacio will get $700,000 just for showing up to Spring Training, another $500,000 if he is good enough to make the 25-man, and another $800,000 if he plays decent.
*--Boswell's column is likely to switch from the crapping his pants format back to the "main chances" format
*--Rauch is again an odd man out
*--We now have two sleepers in Astacio and Ortiz
*--In another Bowden learning his lesson moment (signing 100 bench players after a poor year from the bench), we will add MRIs into the physicals to avoid damaged goods. We might have to require all players to watch Fred McGriff-sponsored baseball videos to avoid signing bust players.
*--I'd rather have Astacio than Lawrence

he has some good numbers
204 IP per season when healthy
2.33 K per BB ratio
Has trouble allowing HRs, but that could factor out nicely.
Basically, we put the 2nd coming of Ryan Drese on the DL (Lawrence) and signed the 3rd coming of Esteban Loaiza (Ortiz the 2nd).

hmm
After giving it a second's thought, change Esteban Loaiza to Hector Carrasco.

Health is key
Pitched minimally the last three years, though the shoulder didn't appear to be the problem last year.

Pismachio... Pastashio... Astacio... Awww, Nuts
Well, he's no Billy Traber, but he'll do.
Nats Triple Play... 3 times the pointless blather of other Nats blogs.

Yet, who really IS Billy Traber, Nate?
Who REALLY is?
