Democracy NOW!

Quick---what do you and I and Will Carroll all have in common? Yep, none of us has a BBWAA membership card.

Thank goodness for that.

Anyway, the jerks who actually can vote guys into the Baseball Hall of Fame have already voted, and the results will be announced in a couple of hours. I thought I'd fire off a quick lunchtime post on the subject.

You've no doubt seen the ballot several times already, but if not---here's the ballot. Again: ballot. Ballot, ballot, ballot. Good. While I'm at it, here's the rules and last year's results.

Well, here's what I think:

WILL GET IN

  • Bruce Sutter
  • Goose Gossage
SHOULD GET IN
  • Goose Gossage
  • Bert Blyleven
  • Gary DiSarcina
I believe Gossage is a solid Hall of Fame choice. I'd love to act all cutesy and match him up with Sutter, another reliever from the past generation or two, but I don't know; Gossage seems clear to me, but Sutter's almost 1,000 fewer innings pitched muddy things from my perspective.

As for Blyleven, I do think he's a Hall of Famer. I don't regard him as an overwhelming choice---and I don't think that people who would leave him out are stupid or duplicitous---but I think he deserves enshrinement.

And DiSarcina? Okay, okay---you got me. Gary Gaetti, then.
