Game two of three at Coors Field, Denver, Colorado features:
Tim Redding (2-3, 2.53) vs Ubaldo Jimenez (2-2, 4.54)
Chad Cordero was brought on in a non-save situation and imploded last night. Washington blew a 5-1 ninth inning lead, and eventually lost when D'Angelo Jimenez rushed and misplayed a ground ball from Kaz Matsui to allow the winning-walk-off run to cross.
The Nationals look to bounce back tonight with Tim Redding on the hill in Colorado against the Rockies twenty-three year old right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez.
Redding has no decisions in three career appearances against the Rockies, throwing 14.0 innings, allowing 9 hits, 1 run on 1 HR, and striking out six for a 0.64 ERA. Redding faced the Rockies this last July at home in RFK and pitched 6.2 innings of shutout ball, giving up 5 hits, while walking 2 and K'ing 1. Redding looks to win his third straight start and fourth of five overall.
Rookie hurler Ubaldo Jimenez faced Washington only once in his short time in the Majors, when Colorado visited DC in July, and Jimenez allowed 4 hits and 2 runs in 5.0 innings on the mound in a game the Rockies went on to win 5-4.
You never know what a tough road loss like last night's can do to a road trip, let's just hope it ends up with Cordero on the hill tonight saving the fourth win in six on the trip.
I won't be in-house until late this evening due to some familial commitments, but if anyone's watching, drop a comment in and i'll catch up upon my return....
