     Ronnie Belliard doubles into the right field corner with one out in the top of the first inning in Philadelphia, as Belliard's Washington Nationals take on the Philadelphia Phillies and their left-handed starter Jamie Moyer in the final game of each team's 2007 regular season. Ryan Zimmerman lines out to Aaron Rowand in center. Dmitri Young grounds out to short. A scoreless first half for the Phillies.

Mets 0 Marlins 7 in the 1st

     Jimmy "MVP" Rollins lines a 2-2 fastball that's up and out over the plate into center for a single to start the bottom of the first. Rollins steals second with Shane Victorino at bat. Victorino grounds harmlessly back to the pitcher for the first out. Chase Utley at bat. Rollins steals third on a curve Nationals catcher Jesus Flores can't get out of his mitt.  Full count to Utley. Utley lines to right, Kearns catches it coming in, Rollins tags, Kearns throws, up the line, Rollins scores. 1-0 Phillies in the first. Ryan Howard adds to his record setting 198-K season with a swinging one-ninety-nine to end the first.

     Jamie Moyer's got his red stirrups pulled high and he's reaching into his bag of slow tricks to retire the Nationals in order in the second. Jason Bergmann matches Old Man Moyer with his own scoreless frame. Moyer gets rookie center fielder Justin Maxwell looking for the first out of the third. Bergmann grounds out to third. Moyer gets a fly ball from Felipe Lopez for the forty-five year old lefty's third scoreless.

     Carlos Ruiz doubles to start the bottom of the third. Moyer goes down bunting. Jimmy Rollins works a walk off Bergmann. Two on for Victorino. Bergmann hits Victorino on the knee with a slider to load the bases for Utley. Chase Utley...pops out to the infield. Ryan Howard rips a fastball to right through the shift for a single. Two runs score. 3-0 Phillies after three.

Mets 1 Marlins 7 in the third. Both starters out.

     Ronnie Belliard beats out an infield grounder and gets his second and THE second overall hit of the game off Moyer. Moyer rings Zimmerman up on a 2-2 fastball inside. DY grounds out to third. Belliard takes second. Austin Kearns lines to right, Belliard rounds third, Burrell comes up throwing. Belliard slides ahead of the tag, "SAFE...SAFE!!!" according to the Ump. 3-1 Phillies. Moyer drops a curve on Wily Mo Pena to end the top of the fourth.

     Manny Acta, Nationals Manager, turns to Big John Albaladejo to take over for Bergmann in the bottom of the fourth. Pat Burrell flies out to center. Gregg Dobbs pops out foul of third. Zimmerman closes his glove on it. Carlos Ruiz leans in and takes a fastball in the groin for a free pass to first. Moyer grounds out to end the fourth.

     Jamie Moyer gets Jesus Flores and Justin Maxwell for the first two outs of the fifth. Nook Logan lines a two-out pinch hit single up the middle. Felipe Lopez grounds back to the mound. 3-1 Philly. Saul "Sa-ool" Rivera gets the first two outs of the Phillies fifth before walking Chase Utley. Ryan Howard grounds right through the dramatic shift for a single. Aaron Rowand flies out to left. 3-1 Phillies after five.

     Ronnie Belliard singles to right to start the top of the sixth. Moyer gets Zimmerman looking at a fastball inside for strike three. DY lines a single to left. Moyer's done for the day...Tom "Flash" Gordon's on in relief. Austin Kearns grounds to second, Utley tags DY and throws to first for the inning-ending DP. 3-1 Philly after five and a half.

     Saul Rivera walks Pat Burrell to lead off the Philly sixth. Michall "Jason" Bourn runs for Burrell. Chris Coste takes one in the shoulder from Rivera. Abraham Nunez bunts both runners over. Tadahito Iguchi will pinch hit. Manny Acta, Nationals Manager makes the slow walk to the hill and brings on Luis Ayala. Iguchi flies to right center. Pinch runner Michael "Jason" Bourn tags and scores. 4-1 Philly. Jimmy Rollins TRIPLES into the corner in right. Coste scores. 5-1 Philly after six.

     J.C. Romero will start the seventh. Wily Mo Pena goes down chasing. Jesus Flores takes a one-out walk. Justin Maxwell goes down swinging. The Professional Pinch Hitter Tony Batista flies out to left to end the top of the seventh. Stand up and stretch...Mike Bacsik's on to pitch the bottom of the seventh. Ryan Howard takes Bacsik deeeep to right and GONE!!! 6-1 Phillies after seven.

Mets 1 Marlins 8 Bottom of 8th

     Felipe Lopez lines a single to center to start the eigth. Ronnie Belliard grounds to Utley, Rollins, Howard, double play. Ryan Zimmerman down swinging. J.C. Romero completes his second scoreless. Jesus Colome retires the Phillies in order in the eigth. Three outs to gets 5 runs for the Nationals, or the 2007 season is over...

     Brett Myers comes on to close out a Playoff birth for Philadelphia. DY goes down swinging. Austin Kearns flies out to left. Wily Mo Pena takes strike three to end the 2007 Washington Nationals season. The Phillies are in the Playoffs as the NL East Champs. Mets fans are thoroughly dejected. Final score 6-1 Phillies.
