"Zimmerman Watch" (*Update 10:10 pm EST)

"Zimmerman Watch" - Federal Baseball's 24-Hour, 22 Hou...12 Hour... Intermittent Coverage of the BREAKING NEWS! And ACTION!!......

ESPN's Bottomline is reporting that an MRI revealed a "slight labrum tear" in Ryan Zimmerman's left shoulder. The Washington Nationals' Official Press Release states that, "The MRI exam revealed a small labral tear. (Team Orthopedist) Dr. (Benjamin) Shaffer advocated rest and anti-inflammatory medications. " No word in the press release on how long Zimmerman is expected be out of the lineup.

Dave at Bottomfeeder Baseball provided his own view on the press release in a FANPOST entitled, "Injury Updates on Zim, Johnson", which can be found right here.

As the title of the press release notes, the word on Nick Johnson is that the continued discomfort in his injured right wrist will result in Johnson's remaining in a cast for two more weeks at which point he'll once again be reevaluated.

More bad news to come when it's available...

*MLB.com's Bill Ladson is reporting that the Nationals have placed Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-Day DL, and recalled Kory Casto from Triple-AAA Columbus to replace the Nationals' face of the franchise of the roster. As for Casto, according to Mr. Ladson's article entitled, "Nationals place Zimmerman on DL":

"...he (Casto) was hitting .315 with three home runs and 16 RBIs for Columbus. He also had a stint on the DL after having a hamate bone removed from his right wrist."

That's the same bone Zimmerman broke and had surgery to repair this winter, and he's doing fine...Right?
