Washington Nationals at Los Angeles Dodgers: Game Report..."'Cool Hand' Lannan Loses It In The Sixth, But At Least Hanrahan Got To Pitch In Dodger Stadium...Finally!"

Chad Billingsley gets Willie Harris swinging at a two-strike fastball on the outside edge. Cristian Guzman pops out to the infield, and Ryan Zimmerman pops out to Andruw Jones in center for a quick 1-2-3 for Billingsley...Juan Pierre throws his bat at an 0-2 pitch and grounds out to Felipe Lopez at second. Willie Harris takes two steps in and catches Matt Kemp's liner for the second out. DC lefty John “Cool Hand” Lannan gets Russell Martin to push an outside pitch to second, where Lopez fields and throws to end the first...

 

Andruw Jones and Matt Kemp nearly collide while tracking Austin Kearns' line drive to the right center gap, but Kemp catches it and avoids Andruw. Jesus Flores grounds out to third. Lastings Milledge’s first AB back with DC...Billingsley hits the outside corner with a 2-2 fastball to get Lastings looking, though he thought it was low...Jeff Kemp rips a 3-1 fastball to right for a leadoff single in the Dodgers’ second. Nomar Garciaparra grounds to Zimmerman, to Lopez, to PLoD, double play. Lannan issues a two-out walk to James Loney. Wild pitch moves Loney up...Andruw Jones grounds to third, Zimmerman charges, fields and throws A.Jones out...

 

Paul Lo Duca grounds through short for a leadoff single in the third. Felipe Lopez lines a 2-0 pitch to left for a second-straight single. John Lannan gets a sac bunt down and almost beats out the throw. Thrillie Harris flies out deep enough to center to advance both runners, Lo Duca scores, Lopez to third, 1-0 DC. Guzman stares at a two-strike curve to end the DC third...Lastings Milledge backpedals in under Andy LaRoche’s fly out to center. Billingsley flies out to Kearns in right. Juan Pierre grounds out to second. Three scoreless for “Cool Hand” Lannan. 

 

Ryan Zimmerman dribbles a grounder back to Billingsley for the first out of the fourth. Austin Kearns sends Andruw Jones sprinting to pick up a single to right center. Jesus Flores grounds to La Roche at third, to Kent, to Loney, double play...Lannan walks Kemp to leadoff the home half of the inning. Russell Martin grounds to Lopez, who turns and throws to Guzman to PLoD, double play. Ryan Zimmerman goes deep in the hole and throws off his heels, and Paul Lo Duca stays on the bag and has it bounce by first. Nomar Garciaparra grounds to Lopez, who tosses to Guzman at second to end the fourth. 

 

Milledge hits a routine grounder to LaRoche. Billngsley walks Lo Duca. Felipe Lopez pops a low 1-0 pitch out to center. Billingsley misses a grounder back to the mound and recovers it too late to throw out the speedy Lannan. Willie Harris works the count full and takes a two-out walk to bring up Guzman with the bases loaded, and Billingsley drops a curve under Guzman’s bat for a swinging K to end the two-out threat...Andruw Jones hits a one-out double off the wall in left center that a leaping Willie Harris can’t come up with....LaRoche lines out to right, Billingsley stares at a two-strike curve, and “Cool Hand” Lannan’s through five scoreless...

 

Zimmerman reaches down for a low 3-1 pitch that’s lifted to A.Jones in center for the first out of the sixth. AK grounds out to third. Billingsley’s dropping curves all over Flores, who works the count full and flies out to A.Jones on the track in center...Juan Pierre waits on a 2-2 curve and hits it when it hangs up in the zone, out to center for a leadoff single. Matt Kemp drives a fastball into left for the second straight single. Lannan comes inside on a 1-2 pitch and hits Russell Martin. Bases loaded for Jeff Kemp. Kemp lines out to Guzman. 1-0 fastball to Nom-ah, line drive over short, two runs score, 2-1 Dodgers. James Loney grounds weakly to second, Martin scores from third. 3-1 LA. 

 

Lastings Milledge chops down on a curve outside for a groundout to short. Lo Duca chops back to the mound for out number two. Felipe Lopez drills a low fastball to right and a sprinting Matt Kemp robs him of extra bases, 1-2-3 seventh for Billingsley...LaRoche grounds out to short, Billingsley K’s when he can’t check his swing, and Juan Pierre grounds out to first to end the seventh...

 

Ryan Langerhans hits for Lannan in the top of the eighth...and takes a leadoff walk from Billingsley. Thrillie Harris grounds softly enough to short to avoid the DP, though No-Mah throws him out at first. Guzman pops a 1-1 pitch out to center. Zimmerman pops to short center and it drops in front of A.Jones...Langerhans scores. 3-2 LA lead. Austin Kearns goes the other way with a two-out single and Jesus Flores steps to the plate. Flores will face a new pitcher Jonathan Broxton...Broxton throws a low fastball by a swinging Flores to end the Nationals’ eighth...

Eight years after the Dodgers' drafted Joel Ryan Hanrahan out of Des Moines, Iowa, Hanrahan makes his LA debut...”Wild” Joel Hanrahan gets Matt Kemp trying to hold up his swing. Russell Martin stares at a two-strike fastball for a backwards K. 1-1 fastball at 94 miles per, and Kent flies out to center, where Milledge closes his glove on the eighth. 

3 outs to get two runs for DC off Jonathan Broxton. Milledge flies out to Kemp in right. Paul Lo Duca pushes an outside fastball to Kemp in right for the second out. Felipe Lopez grounds to short. Dodgers win. 3-2 final.
