Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals: Game Report..."Lo Duca's Last Game? Say Goodbye To Redding? Who Just Played Their Final Game As A National?"

DC SS Felipe Lopez fields, pirouettes and throws toward first in time to get the speedy Philly leadoff hitter Jimmy Rollins. Shane Victorino slaps a single by the first base side of second and into center. Chase Utley drives a single to the left of second. DC right-hander Tim Redding lets two runners on in front of Ryan Howard, who drills a line drive to right off Austin Kearns’ hip that Kearns fires back in holding Victorino at third. A fourth single from Pat Burrell scores two, as Utley slides in right behind Victorino to make it 2-0 Phils early. Geoff Jenkins ends the top of the first with a DP grounder...Thrillie HARRIS takes the first pitch from Old Man Jamie Moyer And His Bag of Slow Tricks deep to left for a line drive leadoff dinger that makes it 2-1 Phillies. Lastings Milledge flies out to centerfield. Ryan Zimmerman flies out to right. Austin Kearns finds the gap and bounces a double off the left field wall. Jesus Flores waits on a curve and lifts Moyer’s slow magic to left and GONE!! Two-run blast. 3-2 Nationals!!! Ronnie Belliard doubles into the corner in right. Paul Lo Duca...flies out to end the first...


Philly catcher Carlos Ruiz singles off Redding with one out in the second and moves into scoring position on Moyer’s sac bunt, but gets stranded at second when Jimmy Rollins grounds out to Belliard...Moyer gets Felipe, Redding and Thrillie Harris in order for a quick end to the second...Shane Victorino grounds out to Felipe Lopez at short, Willie Harris catches an easy fly off Utley’s bat, and Tim Redding rolls through Ryan Howard for 1-2-3 third...Lastings Milledge battles for a while in a 1-2 count but ends up flying out to left to start the DC third. Ryan Zimmerman takes a full-count curve for ball four. Moyer gets Kearns swinging under a slider. Jesus Flores flies out to Victorino on the warning track to end the third. 


Tim Redding throws a fastball by Pat Burrell for a swinging K to start the fourth. Geoff Jenkins rips a single through second. Eric Bruntlett erases the runner and ends the inning with a double play grounder to short...Moyer issues a leadoff walk to Ronnie Belliard. Lo Duca flies out unproductively to center. Belliard’s running, Lopez swinging, Lopez K’s, Belliard’s nailed at second, strike ‘em out throw ‘em out inning ending DP. 


Carlos Ruiz starts the fifth with a single to center. Tim Redding walks the opposing pitcher to put two on for Jimmy Rollins. Rollins lines a double to the gap in right and scores Ruiz to tie the game at 3-3 with runners on second and third for Shane Victorino. Victorino singles up the middle, two runs score, 5-3 Phillies. Chase Utley lines to center, Milledge tracks it to the wall...and GONE! Chase...Utley! Hammers a hanger for a two-run blast and a 7-3 Philly lead. Steven Shell gets the first two batters he faces, but issues a two-out walk to Geoff Jenkins, before striking out Bruntlett to end a long top of the fifth...Moyer gets Pete Orr swinging. WillieTHRILLIE Harris rips a grounder through Howard at first and takes second when Jenkins misplays it...and Harris is still running and safe at third just ahead of the throw. Milledge grounds out unproductively. Ryan Zimmerman? Takes a two-out walk. Austin Kearns grounds into a force at second to end the fifth.


Steven Shell retires the Phillies in order in the sixth. Jesus Flores hits one so hard off the wall in left that he gets himself thrown out at second on a throw in from Burrell. Ronnie Belliard gets called out on strikes on a real low curve. Lo Duca flies out to center to end the sixth...Top of seven. Shane Victorino unloads on a 1-1 curve from Shell and lines it into the bullpen in right for an 8-3 Philly lead. Utley grounds back to the mound. Shell gets Ryan Howard swinging through a low sinker. Shell throws a heater by Burrell to end the top of the seventh. Stand up and stretch...Pinch hitter Kory Casto’s gonna face reliever Ryan Madson. Casto singles on a full count fastball. Casto’s forced out at second on a grounder from Pete Orr. Willie Harris doubles off the stands that stick out into left, Orr to third. Milledge grounds out to short to score Orr. 8-4 Phillies. Ryan Zimmer...THE KIDS CALL HIM ZIM!! THE KIDS CALL HIM ZIM!!! Ryan Zimmerman hits a ground-rule double over Jayson Werth in left. 8-5 Philly after seven...


Geoff Jenkins drives a single to left to leadoff the eighth. Luis Ayala gets a DP groundout off Eric Bruntlett. Carlos Ruiz flies to left, Harris glides in for the grab...Chad Durbin’s dealing to DC in the bottom of the eighth. Flores grounds out to third. Ronnie Belliard works a one-out walk. Paul Lo Duca grounds into an inning-ending DP. (pleasepleaseplease)...Top of the ninth...Jesus Colome walks Jayson Werth, but quickly erases the runner with a Jimmy Rollins grounder to first, "Don't Worry, Lo Duca's Got  It!!" Lo Duca fields, steps on first and fires to second in time to get Werth, double play. Milledge catches Victorino’s liner to end the top of the ninth...Three outs to get three runs...Ryan Langerhans starts the DC ninth with a double off Philly Closer Brad Lidge. Pete Orr flies out unproductively. Willie Harris chases a slider for a swinging K. Lastings Milledge grounds out to short to end another DC loss. Phils win. 8-5 final.
