Federal Baseball.Com Wants To Work In The Front Office...

At 11:50 pm EST Monday night, after "Wild" Joel Hanrahan had given up a game-winning eighth inning Grand Slam to Raul Ibanez, I wrote in the Comments of the Monday GameThread that Hanrahan's time was over:

"Hanrahan was given the closer's role when Rauch leftnow make him earn it…give Mock a shot, with Hanny setting up or back in the 7th. If Mock blows it, bring up whoever’s getting the job done…"

In Washington Post writer Chico Harlan's Nationals Journal post Tuesday afternoon entitled, "1,727 Words On The Bullpen Shakeup", which was published at 6:57 pm EST Tuesday night, Mr. Harlan quotes the Nationals' "Acting" GM Mike Rizzo, who says, in response to a question about Hanrahan's new role in the bullpen:

"Well, the only thing it changes about his role down the line is that he will have to earn his way back to the later innings. It doesn't change the stuff that he's got or the person he is. He's a great guy with great stuff, and probably was thrown into a position that maybe he wasn't prepared for mentally..."

Morning Reading:

• Former DC GM Jim Bowden rewrites history in Washington Times' writer Thom Loverro's article entitled, "Bowden discovers his calling in La-La-Land", in which Mr. Bowden claims, among other things, that, "...the decision to sign highly touted pitching prospect Stephen Strasburg already has been made," and also, the Nationals didn't sign last year's pick, Aaron Crow, because, "...we weren't given the dollars to finish that."

• The Guzzzzzzz is back, according to Washington Post writer Chico Harlan's Nationals Journal post entitled, "Guzman returning, Gonzalez departing."
