In Case You Missed It...

Yahoo! Sports' writer Steve Henson had an article up yesterday entitled, "Strasburg should get used to struggle", where Mr. Henson cautions that Stephen Strasburg, (who'll most likely be drafted by the "abymsal Nationals" as Mr. Henson refers to them), had better get used to being hit the way he was Friday night in his first NCAA Regional start, since all of the opponents he faces from this point forward will be professional hitters. Virginia DH, Phil Gosselin, who hit a 1st inning home run off Strasburg in VA's win over SDSU, says he'll be watching when Strasburg makes the Majors, because, "It's always cool to see guys on the highest stage that you've been successful against." (ed. note - "That's right, Mr. Gosselin, one day you can tell your family and friends you went 1 for 5 with a HR on a 97 mph heater against the Nationals' ace.")

SDSU beat Fresno State Saturday afternoon, so now the Aztecs take on UC Irvine Sunday with the winner to face Virginia...in a double header? That's how it works in the NCAA's...SDSU is still alive...game time 7:00 pm EST tonight and then 11:00 pm for game two if they win...

Le Malediction de les Expos...Est-Il Pour Vrai? (Pardonnez-moi, j'a seulement étudié le français dans le lycée.)

Doghouse, our resident escaped physicist, went back to his favorite blog, Bad Nats, yesterday seeking the cause of the Nationals' ills, and he seems to think he may have come up with something, it's called the Curse of the Expos, and it was divined by the Boxing Priest...

(ed. note - "It'll probably help if you read these two Bad Nats' posts..."):

Bad Nats' archive - "Woof"

Bad Nats' archive - "Ohh Doggies

In explaining the curse in last night's GameThread, Doghouse wrote:

"It’s the curse of Les Expos. The Nats won’t have a winning season until all the former Expos are gone. Sadly, the curse is at its height now that only one remains. Most sadly of all, that one is NJ. If we ever want to win, we may have to trade Nick Johnson."

I always thought, Rob Dibble was right and the Nationals only had to let Teddy win a race to turn things around, but is it going to take the trade of "Two-Spot" Johnson to bring a winning team to DC? Well, the Boxing Priest said so...
