Washington Nationals: Mid-Day Rumor Mill...Orlando Hudson.

• What other options does Orlando Hudson have? The 32-year-old free agent second baseman told MLB.com's Bill Ladson that, "It won't be too much longer before we know where I'll be headed," and according to Hudson, as quoted by Mr. Ladson, "The Nationals are still [in the mix], yes." On Twitter, the collective wisdom says it's the Twins, Mets and Nationals that are most often mentioned as teams in the market for a second baseman, a Detroit Free Press article by the Free Press Staff from January 3rd entitled, "Are the Tigers targeting 2B Orlando Hudson", identified the Tigers, Mets, Phillies, Twins, Rockies and Mariners as all having interest in Hudson, though the Phillies were said to want Hudson to play third which he was unwilling to do...

• According to MLB.com's Bill LadsonDC center fielder Nyjer Morgan's message to Hudson was received...Morgan was quoted in an article two days back inviting the free agent infielder to join him at the top of the Nationals' order, where the two could, theoretically, wreak havoc upon opposing teams and set up Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn with baserunners...Hudson told Mr. Ladson Friday, in an article entitled, "Hudson: Nationals still in mix", that he appreciates Morgan's entreaty:

"'It's a [big deal] coming from a young player who has a bright future like himself,' Hudson said about Morgan. 'He has confidence in an old man like myself and I know how he can play. I enjoy watching the kid play. He plays the game the right way. He plays hard and I really like that.'"

Wonder if the 32-year-old Hudson knows Morgan's 29?
