The Washington Nationals' 2010 1st and 2nd Round Draft picks, OF Bryce Harper and LHP Sammy Solis, will both be in action this afternoon when the Scottsdale Scorpions travel to Surprise, Arizona to take on the Surprise Rafters at 12:35 pm MST (3:35pm in D.C.). Solis, the Nats' 22-year-old 6'5'', 230lb left-hander, was hit hard last time out against the same Rafters' roster he'll face today, surrendering 8 hits, 5 runs, (2 ER), a HR and a walk in 5.0 IP. The former San Diego University starter will be making his fourth trip to the hill in Arizona after having made two starts with the Class-A Hagerstown Suns once he signed with the Nats this past August, inking a $1 million dollar deal.
Bryce Harper, the no.1 overall pick in the last draft, will be making his fifth AFL appearance this afternoon. The Nats' official Twitter (@NatsTownNews) pointed out this morning that the 18-year-old power threat, "...leads #Nationals prospects in hitting (min. 15 AB) during winter league action," having hit in 6 of 17 at bats (.353/.353/.647) over his first four games, connecting for 2 doubles, 1 HR and 4 RBI's thus far.
