Washington Nationals/New York Mets: Spring GameThread.

Nationals' right-hander Jason Marquis ends the Spring back where he started, Port St. Lucie, Florida's Tradition Field, where he made his first Spring Training appearance of 2010 back on March 7th and where the Washington Nationals take on the New York Mets at 12:05 pm EST this afternoon. In 4 starts and 15.2 IP as a Nat, Marquis has allowed 26 hits, 10 walks and 18 ER, which is about as bad as the 31-year-old right-hander was last Spring, when he surrendered 39 hits, 10 walks and 28 ER in 6 starts and 25.0 IP with the Rockies. Marquis had 22 K's in those 6 starts last March, he's recorded just 4 so far this Spring...

Marquis gave up just 1 walk and 3 singles in the first 4.0 innings of his last outing, before struggling in the fifth frame against Atlanta, allowing back-to-back singles to start the inning and a one-out groundout to score the Braves' first run, but a line drive from Chipper Jones after a two-out walk got Marquis out of trouble with only the one run crossing. In the sixth, however, a leadoff double by Brian McCann and run-scoring two-out hits by Omar Infante and Matt Diaz finally chased Marquis after what was pretty clearly his best start. In that first start of the Spring against NY? 3 hits, 3 walks and 5 ER allowed in 2.0 IP...Can Marquis end his first Spring with DC on a high note? After being spurned by the Mets this winter, the Manhasset, NY native should be motivated to dominate his hometown team all season...The Mets throw right-hander John Maine this afternoon...
