Washington Nationals Can't Solve Ubaldo Jimenez Either, Colorado Rockies Win, 2-0.

Ubaldo Jimenez blinked first, giving up a two-out double to Willie Harris in the bottom of the first to end his hitless innings streak at 9.2 IP, but Livan Hernandez's scoreless inning streak ended soon afterwards at 17.0 IP in the top of the second when Rockies' catcher Miguel Olivo took the Nats' right-hander deep to left for a solo HR and an early 1-0 Colorado lead on the first run Livan's surrendered this season. Jimenez gave up a leadoff single in the second, but got a double play and a groundout to retire the Nationals there. Willie Harris took a one-out walk in the fourth and Pudge Rodriguez hit a two-out single, but Adam Kennedy stranded both when he grounded into a force at second. Nyjer Morgan walked to start the bottom of the sixth, but got thrown out stealing second by Rockies' catcher Miguel Olivo, and Jimenez struck out Cristian Guzman and drew a weak grounder out of Willie Harris to complete his sixth scoreless...

Two pitches after Livan Hernandez dropped a two-strike 64 mph bender into the zone to get Troy Tulowitzki looking for the first out of the seventh, the Nats' right-hander left an 84 mph sinking fastball up in the zone inside for Ian Stewart who destroyed it for a line drive HR to right and a 2-0 Rockies' lead. Ubaldo Jimenez, as unhittable as last time out, finally makes a mistake, leaving a 2-2 fastball up waist-high and inside to Adam Kennedy, who lines to right for a two-out double, but Ian Desmond's groundout gives Jimenez 16.0 straight scoreless, and even though he'd thrown 113 pitches, the Rockies brought their 26-year-old right-hander back out for the eighth. Alberto Gonzalez lines a 97mph 0-2 fastball back up the middle for a leadoff single. Jimenez battles and beats Josh Willingham with a 98mph fastball on his 121st pitch, which Willingham grounds to third for Ian Stewart to handle, and with one down in the eighth Jimenez is done: 7.1 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K's, 121 pitches, 78 for strikes, 15 groundouts, 1 flyout...17.1 scoreless IP-streak in tact...

Livan's done after: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 5 K's, 94 pitches, 62 strikes.

The Nats get a two-out single off Joe Beimel in the eighth before he pops Willie Harris up to end the inning, and Colorado closer Franklin Morales gives up a two-out hit to Justin Maxwell before he gets Ian Desmond swinging at brutal two-strike curve...
