• Bowden On Storen:
Former DC GM and current Sirius/XM host Jim Bowden was asked today by co-host Casey Stern on the MLB Network Radio show "Inside Pitch" to share his thoughts on the Nats' newest reliever, Drew Storen, the team's second '09 1st Round pick, who was officially added to the roster today, replacing DFA'd right-hander Brian Bruney in the DC bullpen on the road in St. Louis less than a year after he was taken 10th overall in the draft out of Stanford with the pick the Nationals received as compensation for their inability to ink their '08 1st Round pick, pitcher Aaron Crow:
Jim Bowden: "First of all, thank goodness they're bringing him up and not worrying about the Super Two issue right now, cause Tyler Clippard's arm is about to fall off if he pitches another game, so I'm glad they're going to get help. Drew Storen, Stanford...tremendous intelligence, great aptitude, this guy is a flat-out gamer. Now you're not going to see him after his first big league save, he's not going to do the K-Rod and start hitting the heart and pointing to the ceiling and all that, he's going to be one of those Mariano Rivera-types that just walk off the field with class and dignity, but this guy here is an absolute gamer. He's going to pound the strike zone to a fault, he's going to come right at them, but he really knows (what he's doing), and I'm a big fan of aptitude and make-up and this guy's is off the chart..."
