Washington Nationals Option John Lannan To Double-A Harrisburg.

According to a series of tweets from MASNSports.com's Ben Goessling (@masnben) which were posted in the last ten minutes, the Washington Nationals have removed left-handed starter John Lannan from the roster to make room for RHP Joel Peralta, with Lannan ticketed for Double-A Harrisburg according to the most recent updates. The Nationals' pre game press conference with Nats' Skipper Jim Riggleman should take place in the next few minutes and updates are sure to follow...

After failing to make it out of the fifth inning for the third straight start on Sunday, Nats' Skipper Jim Riggleman was quoted in a post game press conference expressing some concern and explaining the Nationals would have to think about what they were going to do with the 25-year-old pitcher:

"...we've got to think about, because John has been a mainstay here, he's been a horse here for this ballclub who always went into the six, seventh, eighth inning, and when you continue to come out in the fourth or fifth it's just not going to work, but I believe in John."

No word on whether or not an injury is to blame for Lannan's issues, but he did suffer from elbow issues earlier this season, more info when it's available....
