Wire Taps: Stephen Strasburg To DL, Washington Nationals Recall Collin Balester. Adam Dunn Said What Now?

• The word out of Nationals Park this afternoon, as reported by a variety of sources, is that the Washington Nationals have officially placed 22-year-old right-hander Stephen Strasburg on the 15-Day DL as they determine what exactly is wrong with his throwing arm. In his place, most likely just for the next two nights, with Jordan Zimmermann scheduled to pitch Thursday night in D.C., is the Nats' 24-year-old right-hander Collin Balester, who's bounced up and down in the last month.

• In an article by Chicago Sun-Times' writer Gordon Wittenmyer entitled, "Adam Dunn's a Wrigley fan", the Nats' big middle-of-the-order bat, Adam Dunn, is quoted stating that, "'[Wrigley Field's] obviously one of my favorite parks to hit in...I've always really enjoyed playing there," and though he's not quoted explicitly saying so, Mr. Wittenmyer does in fact write that, "Dunn is willing to talk if the Washington Nationals don't make a strong push to get him signed to an extension before he becomes a free agent in the fall."

You might remember Mr. Wittenmyer's article a few weeks back entitled, "Zambrano still the man in the middle", from August 10th which quoted Cubs' third baseman Aramis Ramirez saying that if the Cubs were to spend this winter, "Adam Dunn would fit anybody's lineup. But they're going to have to spend a lot of money to get Adam Dunn,'' but as Mr. Wittenmyer notes at the end of this most recent speculative piece, Dunn is still talking to the Nationals, and none other than DC GM Mike Rizzo was quoted recently stating that the Nats won't wait til the seasons over to make a decision. Get'R'DUNN!!! Maybe if Dunn starts hitting the decision will be easier...
