NLDS Game 3 WPA: What happened to the 98-win Nats? Cardinals 8, Nationals 0

So, that strategy where you give up a bunch of runs and strand all of your own runners? It doesn't seem to result in wins.

Via FanGraphs

  • It's that shaky start: Edwin Jackson (-24.1%) gives up 4 runs in first 2 innings, but settles down to finish 5 IP with 4 Ks and 1 BB.
  • Least clutch (if it existed): Michael Morse (-13.3%) is 0-4 with 5 LOB and some unimpressive range in LF.
  • Promising, but unsupported: Ian Desmond (+8.1%) is 3-4 with a double.

(H/t to my friend Jack in the back row for the title.)
