There were no real surprises when the Washington Nationals announced the 25-Man Roster for the NLDS and there are no surprises in the lineup Nats' skipper Davey Johnson is sending out there this afternoon to face the St. Louis Cardinals and starter Adam Wainwright. Jayson Werth and Bryce Harper are at the top of the order, Ryan Zimmerman's hitting and playing third as always and Adam LaRoche, Michael Morse, Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa and Kurt Suzuki are lined up in front of left-handed hitting and throwing Nationals' starter Gio Gonzalez. LaRoche (7 for 25, 2B, HR), Zimmerman (7 for 26, 5 2B) and Werth (4 for 16, 2B, HR) have the best numbers against Wainwright who has a (4-3) record, 16 BB (2.88 BB/9), 50 Ks (9.00 K/9), a 3.60 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and .270 BAA in 10 G, 8 GS and 50.0 IP against Washington in his career. In two starts this year, Wainwright's (1-1) with a 7.27 ERA, four walks and eight Ks in 8.2 IP. Wainwright makes his third start of the year vs the Nats today. Gio Gonzalez makes his second career start against the Cards.
