"I thought I was going to get a definitive thing," Washington Nationals' skipper Davey Johnson said when asked for an update on Ryan Zimmerman's ailing shoulder last night in the post game press conference following the Nats' 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres. The 27-year-old Nats' third baseman was sent for an MRI on his shoulder after he was left out of last night's lineup for the series opener in Petco Park. "They did the test and now they're taking the disc of the test and sending it to [Team Doctor] Weimi [Douohguih]," Johnson explained, "and he'll examine it in the morning, closely, but at this point, as far as I know, it's not real favorable. So... It looks like he's going to need some more rest. So, we'll just have to wait and see in the morning." The news on Zimmerman before and after the game cast a pall over what was another great start by the Nationals' pitchers. This time it was Gio Gonzalez shutting the Padres down long enough for the Nats' offense to make something happen. The bats did just enough again. Will they come through for Jordan Zimmermann tonight in game two of three in SD? It's a 6:30 pm EDT game, just in case you were planning on sleeping after work and waking up for a late start...Until then, and until there's a Zim update. There are LINKS. RIGHT NOW...
