No one ever likes to hear that a player is headed to see Dr. James Andrews. It's rarely a positive sign. 24-year-old Nats' closer Drew Storen, who has been experiencing what were initially described as bicep/tricep issues which have limited his action since the start of Spring Training was placed on the DL to start the season and the Nats' 09 1st Round pick, who saved 43 games last season, has apparently suffered a setback in his attempts to return to the mound in the majors. Nats' skipper Davey Johnson spoke to reporters about the latest developments this afternoon before the Nationals game against the New York Mets in Citi Field. Apparently Storen is headed to see Dr. James Andrews later this week...

• Washington Post's Adam Kilgore (@AdamKilgoreWP):

Storen was (6-3) in 2011 with a 2.75 ERA, 3.32 FIP, 20 walks (2.39) and 74 K's (8.84 K/9) in 73 games and 75.1 IP last season in his second year in D.C. after the Nationals selected the right-hander out of Stanford with a compensation pick they received for having failed to sign '08 1st Round pick Aaron Crow the previous summer. Storen tore through the Nats' minor league system to make his MLB debut ahead of fellow '09 1st Round pick Stephen Strasburg in May of 2010. The right-hander has a 3.10 ERA, a 3.29 FIP, 8.68 K/9 and 2.89 BB/9 127 games and 130.2 IP into his major league career. He'll reportedly visit Dr. James Andrews to get an official diagnosis later this week.
