via FanGraphs

  • Two-way player: Stephen Strasburg (-9.3% pitching, +15.6% hitting) gives up 1 ER (3 R thanks to a circus play behind him) over 5 IP with 8 Ks and only 1 walk. He helps himself at the plate by going 2-2 with 2 runs scored and a 4th-inning solo HR (+11.7%) to pad the lead.
  • The other phenom went yard: Bryce Harper (+17.8%) is 2-4 with a walk and a two-run triple to put the Nats on the board in the third (+17.7%).
  • His D is good, too: Jesus Flores (+13.6%) hits a 4th-inning dinger to put the Nats ahead (+15.3%) and set up Stras' back-to-backer. Did I mention that Stras went yard?
  • Shutdown: Tom Gorzelanny (+8.0%) throws two scoreless in relief with 2 Ks and a walk, leaving no WPA for the other relievers or for Danny Espinosa's two-run shot in the 8th (+1.8%).
