Washington Nationals' infielder Steve Lombardozzi's making his fifth start of the year at second base this afternoon in Atlanta where the Nats and the Braves will wrap up the three-game set in Turner Field at 1:35 pm EDT. Danny Espinosa, who's got a five-game hit streak going, but is still just 6 for 26 (.231/.231/.308) over that stretch, sits so that Lombardozzi can start against Braves' right-hander Tim Hudson. Gio Gonzalez takes the hill for the Nationals. Last time out in Atlanta, the 26-year-old left-hander held the Braves to two runs on a hit and three walks over 7.0 IP in which he struck out 10. Gonzalez is coming off a six-inning outing against the Rockies in Colorado's Coors Field, where he gave up eight hits and five runs, four earned in 6.0 IP. The Nats' left-hander was won three of four starts in June after taking home MLB's Pitcher of the Month Award in May. Gonzalez is (1-1) in two career starts against Atlanta, both of which took place this season, which is his first in the NL after he was acquired by Washington in trade with the Oakland A's last December. Gonzalez represented the A's in the 2011 All-Star Game, will he represent the Nationals in Kansas City? We'll find out at 1:00 pm EDT when MLB announces the All-Star Rosters on TBS. 1:35 pm EDT start time in Hotlanta. How many All-Stars will the Nats have this season? We'll find out soon. Here's today's lineup:
