Washington Nationals Reinstate Chad Tracy From DL; Option OF Corey Brown To Triple-A; No Trade Deadline Chatter In D.C.

Presswire

• 2:37 pm EDT: With 90 minutes left before the 4:00 pm EDT Non-Waiver Trade Deadline, the biggest bit of Nationals-related news is a report from Washington Post writer Adam Kilgore, who was following up on an earlier bit of info he'd shared. In a 10:20 am update of his Trade Deadline post, the WaPost reporter said that though the Nats were comfortable with Jesus Flores, Sandy Leon and Jhonotan Solano behind the plate, they would have discussions with the Texas Rangers about recently DL'd backstop Yorvit Torrealba. Three hours later the word the Washington Post writer got was that the two sides had talked and, "... one person involved says, 'It doesn’t look like a fit.'" If the Nationals are going to find a catcher it will apparently be coming from another team.

• 2:54 pm EDT: The Nationals play the Phillies tonight. Philadelphia traded Hunter Pence to San Francisco. They traded Shane Victorino to the LA Dodgers. They called up Domonic Brown and brought him to the nation's capital since they were dealing all of their outfielders out west... Still no talk of a deal for the Nationals so far though there was one announcement made by the Nationals:

via @NationalsPR:

In his second short stint with the Nationals this year, Corey Brown was 3 for 13 with a double and a home run in six games on the Nats' last road trip through New York and Milwaukee. In 95 games and 426 PA's at Triple-A Syracuse this season, the 26-year-old outfielder has a .300/.384/.559 line with 19 doubles and 21 HR's. Tracy, who had surgery to repair a torn muscle in his groin, was 13 for 49 (.265/.327/.510) with three doubles and three home runs on the year before the injury, and was 6 for 23 (.333/.435/.556) with one of the doubles, one of the home runs and nine RBI's as a pinch hitter before he was hurt.
