Jayson Werth was held out of last night's game by Nationals' manager Davey Johnson because, as the Nats' skipper told reporters including the Washington Post's Adam Kilgore, Werth had left the previous night's game with "tightness" in his legs and Johnson didn't want to, "... wear Werth out," as the outfielder continues to work his way back into shape following over three months on the sidelines recovering from the broken wrist he suffered in May. Werth's back in the linup tonight, batting sixth and playing right with Bryce Harper in center and Michael Morse in left. No Shark in the lineup tonight in spite of his late-game heroics in yesterday's win, but he's working well as a fourth outfielder on the Nats' roster, and as D.C. GM Mike Rizzo told 106.7 the FAN in D.C.'s Holden Kushner and Danny Rouhier this morning on The Mike Rizzo Show, Bernadina seems to have really settled into his role. "He's done a great job for us," Rizzo said, "He's a guy that can play all three outfield positions. He can steal you a base off the bench when we need a stolen base. He's got some pop off the bench and he's a guy that can also play for an extended period of time which kind of separates him from those typical fourth or fifth outfielders because the guy has the skill level to play multiple games in a row. He gives Davey a lot of flexibility and a lot of maneuverability and he's really come into his own in that role." Nothing but love for the Shark these days.
