Jayson Werth Sits As Planned: Washington Nationals' Wednesday Night Lineup vs The Cubs' Chris Volstad.

Davey Johnson wanted to get Tyler Moore some at bats against a left-hander in last night's game against the Chicago Cubs. So there wouldn't be any controversy, the Nationals' manager told reporters about his plan to sit Bryce Harper on Tuesday beforehand. Johnson also said that Jayson Werth was going to get the night off tonight in the third game of four with the Cubs, though he knew he'd meet with some resistance from the veteran outfielder. When he arrived late for the post game press conference last night after the shelling of Chicago, he apologized and explained that he'd had just had the discussion with Werth. "Had a little meeting with one of my players," Johnson laughed, "I promised him [Wednesday] off, Jayson Werth, like I told you earlier, and he didn't want to come out. I said, 'No we are going to be doing that.' So, but that was good. But he's off..." Werth's sitting today. Michael Morse, Roger Bernadina and Bryce Harper are left-to-right around the outfield tonight with the usual infield and Kurt Suzuki behind the plate as Nats' lefty Gio Gonzalez goes for his 18th win of the year and the Nats' fourth-straight overall.
