• NLCS Game 5 - The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the brink of elimination. The St. Louis Cardinals' 4-2 win last night in Dodger Stadium gave them a commanding 3-1 lead in the NLCS. The Cards can win the National League with another win this afternoon in LA. Cards' righty Joe Kelly, 25, makes his third start of the postseason and his second in five days against Los Angeles.
Asked how he adjusts to a team that's seen him so recently, Kelly told reporters yesterday he couldn't really change much. "It's just going to be all about making pitches," the Cards' starter explained. "I'm not going to go out there and try to be a different kind of pitcher that I'm not. When you make good pitches, ultimately you'll be more successful than not."
Zack Greinke took the loss the last time he faced off with Kelly. He told reporters yesterday it's all about adjustments. "If you do good," Greinke said, "it's going to be‑‑ they're going to make an adjustment, and you've got to be faster than them at it." Can Greinke and the Dodgers avoid elimination? Game time 4:00 pm EDT.
