Game 20 WPA: Remember when we aspired to .500? Nats 0, STL 2

Detwiler had a pretty solid outing, and even two-inning Hot Rod was surprisingly undramatic. But the Nats just kept stranding runners... Still, it was funny seeing a pitcher bunt into two double plays, including a circus one.

  • The Perils of P2C: Ross Detwiler (+0.7%) gets through 6 IP with 2 Ks, 2 BBs, and 4 (four!) double plays, although he gives up 2 ER on a string of hits in the 4th, which is 2 ER too many when the offensive is scoring zero...
  • Particularly g04ty: Adam LaRoche (-22.5%) is 0-4 with 5 LOB and 4 Ks, including once to end the sixth with the bases loaded (-11.7%).
  • More o-fers: Jayson Werth (-19.1%) is 0-4 with 3 LOB, while Ian Desmond (-15.5%) is 0-4 with 1 LOB.
  • Back the kid up, guys: Bryce Harper (+14.0%) is 2-3 with a walk and a ninth-inning leadoff double (+10.2%).
  • Not quite a shutdown: Henry Rodriguez (+5.5%) walks one and strikes out two in two innings of scoreless, relatively undramatic relief.
