Game 39 WPA: P2K is hard to beat. Nats 0, LA 2

Haren has a pretty good outing, but Zim is the only who can hit in a punchless, K-laden outing for the Nats lineup.

  • That's not what we mean by "pitch to contact": Dan Haren (-3.7%) only gives up 2 ER in 7 IP on 4 Ks and no walks, with a two-strike HBP to the opposing pitcher eventually leading to the two-out, go-behind hit (-21.1%).
  • Not fooled: Ryan Zimmerman (+4.2%) is 3-4 with a single to each field, but no other Nat registers positive offensive WPA.
  • Exemplary (in a bad way): Tyler Moore (-15.0%) is 0-4 with 4 LOB, including a bases-loaded K to end out a first-inning rally (-7.4%).
