Game 51 WPA: What did say I saw about walks? Bad, Gio! Bad! Nats 2, Os 6.

Gio walks more than he strikes out, and his bat hasn't woken up quite enough to make up for it. Neither have any other of the Nats' bats, come to think of it.

Gio throws a pitch today. It was probably a ball.

  • Again, P2BB = FAIL! Gio Gonzalez (-24.3% pitching, +4.8% hitting) walks 4 and strikes out 3 on the way to giving up 4 ER in 5.2 IP. However, he's also 1-2 with a double, leading the Nats in hitting WPA.
  • Good start: Tyler Moore (+2.4%) doubles in a run to put the Nats ahead early (+11.0%).
  • Bad finish: Craig Stammen (-6.3%) melts down after Gio, getting 2 Ks but giving up an ER on 4 hits in an inning of work.
  • Unhelpful: Former heroes Steve Lombardozzi (-9.4%) and Kurt Suzuki (-9.4%) go a collective 0-8 with 4 LOB.
