4:18 pm EST Here are the official updates:
OFFICIAL: #Nats reinstate OF Jayson Werth from DL, recall INF Anthony Rendon from @syracusechiefs, select LHP Ian Krol from @hbgsenators…
— Washington Nationals (@Nationals) June 4, 2013
OFFICIAL: #Nats place INF Danny Espinosa on 15-day DL, designate RHP Henry Rodriguez & LHP Zach Duke for assignment
— Washington Nationals (@Nationals) June 4, 2013
The Washington Nationals promoted top prospect Anthony Rendon to Triple-A Syracuse recently and the fact that they publicly stated that he would see time at second base seemed to hint that the Nats were at least considering a move with the lack of production the team is getting from the second basemen currently on their roster. Danny Espinosa and Steve Lombardozzi have combined for a .190/.216/.283 line. Espinosa's been playing hurt, of course, having torn his left rotator cuff late last year and suffered a fractured wrist in mid-April. According to reports from Nationals Park today, the Nationals have gone and made some changes:
Well. Anthony Rendon is at Nats Park.

Well. Henry Rodriguez is packing things into a bag. And Danny Espinosa's locket is cleaned out. And Jayson Werth is here.

Zach Duke also not on #Nats lineup card. LHP Ian Krol added to roster.

Holy S... mokes. The Nationals have apparently gone and upended the roster. Henry Rodriguez tells reporters he's been designated for assignment. Zach Duke is MIA. 22-year-old left-hander Ian Krol (you're forgiven if you're wondering) is apparently called up. Jayson Werth's back. Anthony Rendon is in D.C. Danny Espinosa's locker's empty. Davey Johnson is set to meet with reporters in about 10 minutes and there will surely be official announcements and explanations to follow. Stay tuned...
Here's the latest from MLB.com's Bill Ladson:
Henry Rodriguez was placed on waivers. Zach Duke was let go. Ian Krol and Anthony Rendon were called up. #Nats #MLB
