Washington Nationals Make Big Changes: Anthony Rendon In D.C.; Danny Espinosa? Henry Rodriguez DFA'd; Ian Krol In D.C. Too?

There's some breaking news coming from Nationals Park where the Washington Nationals' top prospect Anthony Rendon has been spotted and two empty lockers say some moves have been made? Danny Espinosa's locker is empty and Henry Rodriguez has been seen packing up...

4:18 pm EST Here are the official updates:

The Washington Nationals promoted top prospect Anthony Rendon to Triple-A Syracuse recently and the fact that they publicly stated that he would see time at second base seemed to hint that the Nats were at least considering a move with the lack of production the team is getting from the second basemen currently on their roster. Danny Espinosa and Steve Lombardozzi have combined for a .190/.216/.283 line. Espinosa's been playing hurt, of course, having torn his left rotator cuff late last year and suffered a fractured wrist in mid-April. According to reports from Nationals Park today, the Nationals have gone and made some changes:

Holy S... mokes. The Nationals have apparently gone and upended the roster. Henry Rodriguez tells reporters he's been designated for assignment. Zach Duke is MIA. 22-year-old left-hander Ian Krol (you're forgiven if you're wondering) is apparently called up. Jayson Werth's back. Anthony Rendon is in D.C. Danny Espinosa's locker's empty. Davey Johnson is set to meet with reporters in about 10 minutes and there will surely be official announcements and explanations to follow. Stay tuned...
