Washington Nationals' Saturday Lineup; Stephen Strasburg Throws Issue-Free Bullpen

Washington Nationals' manager Davey Johnson made just one change for today's lineup from the one he planned on sending out there last night before rain forced a postponement. The Nats' skipper also had good news for Nats fans when he updated reporters on Stephen Strasburg's lat strain...

There's only one change to the lineup Davey Johnson intended to field for the series opener with Minnesota before it was rained out last night. Instead of Steve Lombardozzi in left it's Roger "The Shark" Bernadina this afternoon for the first game of three the Nats and Twins will play in the next 48 hours. This afternoon's game gets underway at 4:05 pm EDT with Gio Gonzalez on the mound against the Twinkies' Kevin Correia. Here's the Nationals' lineup for today's game:

There were a few updates on Stephen Strasburg before today's game. The 24-year-old right-hander was placed on the DL this past week with a right latissimus dorsi strain, but according to reports from Nationals Park today, the Nats' '09 no.1 overall pick threw off the mound without incident for the first time since the injury forced him out of the game after two innings in his last start in Atlanta:

Washington Times' writer Rich Campbell quotes Davey Johnson from before today's game telling reporters, "'He had a great bullpen. Threw the heck out of the ball. Had no symptoms from the injury. He’s good to go.'" The Nationals will, however, need a starter for Wednesday's game in Colorado, though there's no official word on which pitcher will be called up to fill in for Strasburg.

Today's game gets underway at 4:05 pm EDT this afternoon.
